Creating a Research Paper with a Table

  1. Start Word.
  2. Change the margin settings for the document. (WD3.8)
bulletFile/Page Setup/Margins tab/1" for Top, Bottom, Left & Right margins

    3.  Adjust the line spacing for the document.(WD 3.10)

bulletTo Double Space, Right Click on Paragraph mark/Paragraph/Intent & Spacing tab/Line spacing box/Double

    4.Create a header to number pages.(WD 3.12)

bulletView/Header & Footer/Click Align Right Button/Last Name + space + Page Number button/Select text/Font size 12

    5.Change the font size to 12.(WD 3.15)

bulletEnter your name and course information. (Refer to textbook page WD 3.15)
bulletCenter the paper title. (Refer to textbook page WD 3.17)

    6.Save the research paper. (A:\CIS115\WORD\PROJ_3.DOC) (WD 3.18)

    7.First-line indent paragraphs in the paper. (WD 3.18)

bulletPoint First Line Indent Marker/Drag to .5" mark on the ruler

    8.Enter the research paper.(WD 3.20)

bulletType the first paragraph of the research paragraph as shown in Figure 3-24(WD 3.20)
bulletTo zoom Page Width, Click Zoom box arrow/select Page Width (WD 3.21)
bulletTo AutoCorrect As you type, Tools/AutoCorrect (WD 3.22)

    9. To Add a Footnote (WD 3.25)

bulletType the text shown in Figure 3-33. Click Insert/Footnote
bulletRight Click/Paragraph/Special tab: First line
Line spacing: Double
Font 12
Type the note text as shown in step #8, page WD 3.28
Click the Close button on the note pane option bar.

    11. Insert an Table (WD 3.31)

bulletShift + Enter for line break, Tab to move to the next cell and Enter to begin a new paragraph within a cell. (step #1)

bulletTo AutoFormat a Table, Right click/Table AutoFormat/Color/Heading rows  (WD 3.34)
bulletTo select an entire table, Table/Select Table/CTRL+1 (WD 3.36)
bulletTo Insert a Blank line, CTRL+0 , and type the last sentence(WD 3.37)

    12. Enter the works cited page. (WD 3.39)

bulletTo Create a Hanging Indent, Align Left Button/Drag the Hanging Indent marker to .5" mark

    13. Sort the paragraphs on the works cited page. (3.43)

bulletSelect all the Works Cited paragraphs/Table/Sort

    14. Save the document again.

    15. Use Word’s thesaurus. (3.48)

bulletClick a word/Tools/Language/Thesaurus/detect/Select/Replace

    16. Check the number of words in the document.(WD 3.49)

bulletTools/Word Count/Include footnotes & Endnotes

    17. Print the research paper.

    19. Save the document again

    20. Quit Word.
